Isaiah Stewart’s final 3-pointer allowed the Detroit Pistons to start the 2022-23 season with a bold win.

Stewart finished the only mark of the night, 3, with 11 seconds left to make the lead to four. Despite trailing 15 points in the middle of the first quarter, the Pistons defeated the Orlando Magic 113-109 at Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday.

Bojan Bogdanovic added 24 points, rookie Jaden Ivey added 19 points and 4 assists, and Cade Cunningham had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Pistons. Rookie Jalen Duren also had a double-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists. Paolo Banchero, the No. 1 overall pick last summer, was the top scorer of all goalscorers with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.

Ivey, Duren ace rookie debuted

Ivey and Duren were in the top five on Detroit’s draft board last summer. They’re two of the best athletes in the draft class and showed some insight into why in the preseason. Ivey is already one of the fastest athletes in the NBA. The ball draws attention when in hand, and the defense needs to be on full alert when he darts into the ring. Duren is a strong, high jumping tall man who is already physically imposing at the age of 18.
