'I'll never eat Subway again': NFL fans mock Russell Wilson AGAIN after new weird ad drops

Russell Wilson has been at the forefront of stories for the majority of the current NFL season, and this week is no different after social media took aim at the latest ‘cringe’ television commercial.

In his first campaign with the Denver Broncos, the quarterback is making more waves with his off-court personality than his gaming talent that has captured the imagination of the Twitter universe.

Now, NFL freelance manager Will Compton has kicked off the latest heap on Wilson following the reveal of the latest Subway commercial.

Russell Wilson has failed to inspire since arriving in Denver with the AFC team currently at 2-4.

It seems that Wilson leans deeply on the stale brush that he’s often painted on and ridiculed on social media.

The amusingly spooky campaign prompted Compton to ask to speak to Wilson through his manager; A brazen allusion to the latest claim that the Seahawks’ teammates could only reach Wilson through these means.

‘Holy ***,’ Compton wrote on Thursday. ‘Can you connect me to your manager so we can chat with @DangeRussWilson?’

The former Seahawks star has only had five goals and three interceptions this season.

The ad shows Wilson experimenting with various ‘dangerous’ ways of eating a Subway sandwich called a ‘dangerwich’.

Unsurprisingly, much of the backlash amused Wilson, referring to his and Denver’s crushing start to a season that many thought would compete for the AFC title.

‘There’s no way Ciara can confirm this,’ said one user. Another said, ‘this guy is a meme before he became a QB’.

Wilson’s quarterback game was also not safe from criticism, with bookies called to ‘hammer the Jets money line’ ahead of New York’s trip to Mile High on Sunday.

One savage user suggested that Wilson was blindfolded in his pocket, as during the Subway commercial.

Wilson received some praise for his willingness to dive into personality, which often resulted in widespread ridicule.

‘This is great,’ wrote one fan. ‘The haters call it stale and it doesn’t run away from it, it leans towards it.’

Former teammates Richard Sherman and Marshawn Lynch, who both played with Wilson in Seattle, claimed on Sherman’s self-titled podcast last week how difficult it was to get the star quarterback.

Some spoke of Wilson's wife, Ciara, while others were the subject of admiration and ridicule.

Lynch told Sherman he wanted to ‘reach out’ to Wilson after their fight in Denver.

Lynch replied, ‘man, come on nigga. If I can’t call you nigga directly, then I wouldn’t call you, nigga, especially if I went to war with you.’

This season isn’t the first time Wilson has been criticized for his off-court antics after NFL personality Kyle Brandt won the Super Bowl championship once after the MNF’s loss to Indianapolis.

“I think Russell Wilson is one of the least authentic personalities in this league,” Brandt said on NFL Network earlier this month. “I think Russell Wilson is a poser and that doesn’t mean he’s a bad guy, I actually think he’s a good person.

‘I’m working in honor of the NFL, working the red carpet… Russell Wilson shows up in sunglasses and his wife and I think they think they’re Jay-Z and Beyonce and they’re literally going to raise their hands and say, “no, we’re not talking.”

‘Why?! Because you think you’re that cool? And you’re that famous and you’re that great and everything is so perfect? Unless you’re really good in the locker room, or a really good guy, that won’t work.’

“I think he’s trying to be something he’s not,” Brandt continued. When you win $245 million, you have to be a great guy or a great actor who loves you in the locker room.

‘Brady makes half of what Russell makes, both. the Rodgers; MVP. Patrick Mahomes; both at once. [Josh] allen; people love him, he’s great… Russell Wilson; first of all, the Broncos fanbase has no history with him, no attachment to him.’

Wilson arrived at Mile High with much fanfare after an off-season trade with Seattle. Shortly thereafter, he was awarded a five-year $245 million extension by the three-time Super Bowl champion.

While the team has a troubled 2-4 record, Wilson is under pressure to recover from a hamstring injury in time for the resurgent 4-2 New York Jets’ visit.

Although anything seems possible with Wilson. “I heal fast, wolf blood or something,” he said on Wednesday.
