Still, she found solace in the fact that she had a good friend: singing icon Gloria Gaynor appeared in the final double masking of “The Masked Singer” while celebrating the show’s Wednesday night episode “Andrew Lloyd Webber Night.”

While the Mermaid was Gaynor, Cantone was revealed to be under an Egyptian costume. Canton ranked first with the fewest votes among this week’s three performances.

Later, Gaynor unmasked as the Mermaid after facing off against Robo Girl in a battle royale (they both sing “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” from “Evita” in turn). Robo Girl won and moved on to next week’s episode.

“I thought I was singing this song from hell. But also, you know, Gloria Gaynor was voted down, so I think I’m in really good company,” Cantone said. So it helps the wound heal a little bit.” Still Cantone said he was happy to do the show: “People give me some shows like this and I don’t do them. But this one I really liked. It’s a lot of work but definitely easier if you’re a singer and musical, so it was on my side.”

“Andrew Lloyd Webber Night” began with Judge Nicole Scherzinger singing “Memory” by the songwriter from “Cats.” This was followed by judge Ken Jeong, who serenaded Webber (who was there to serve as a guest panelist) with “Phantom of the Opera.”

And the staff were great. The producers were music director Miguel Allison, who was a vocal coach, and then a Broadway singer. “I have a husband, Jerry Dixon, who is now married. When I finally take on the role I was born to play, the plot intensifies and the city smiles with me as I smile, bravo! You see, Lord Lloyd Webber, I don’t want to get carried away here.
